ServTech began in 2010 in Kampala, Uganda, with a small team and a clear purpose: build technology platforms suited to African markets, not adapted from somewhere else. Over the past decade-plus, that purpose has carried us into eight countries and counting, and into a group of more than 2,000 people.
We are a technology holding company. Our head office is in Port Louis, Mauritius, and our operating businesses run consumer digital platforms across Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Liberia, Guinea, and the Republic of the Congo, each supported by local teams who understand their market best.
We design, build, and operate proprietary consumer technology: mobile and web applications, backend platforms, payment integrations, and the data infrastructure behind them. Rather than licensing off-the-shelf systems, we build our own, which lets us move quickly, tailor experiences to local languages and payment methods, and keep control over the reliability and security of what we ship.
Our organization is structured around small, accountable product and engineering teams, each close to the market they serve. Central technology and data teams provide shared infrastructure, tooling, and standards, so local teams can move fast without rebuilding the basics each time.
We employ over 2,000 people across our footprint, in engineering, product, data, design, operations, and central functions. We invest in developing local technical talent in every market we operate in, and many of our senior technical leaders have grown up through the organization.
